Usually, we hear stories about men wanting their girlfriend’s to lose weight, but this story is a little different.
This is Christine Carter, 28, who lost 150 pounds after struggling with her weight and wanting to do something about it. However, Christine’s boyfriend didn’t want her to lose weight – he wanted her to stay overweight – and as she continued to drop pounds, he became more and more jealous. It wasn’t long before she dumped her controlling boyfriend, because he didn’t approve and was not supportive of her weight loss.
BE FEARLESS. If you make only one resolution this year, let it be to live boldly. You control THIS movement. Rather than cautiously test the water, dive straight into life with freeing abandon. Imagine the person you want to become and the life you want to live, then commit to it with everything you have. Believe in yourself. Embrace your beauty. Whatever you do-do it with undaunted passion. <3 A photo posted by Christine Carter (@weightlosshero) on
At the beginning of her weight loss journey, Christine weighed 275 pounds. She lost 50 pounds after she underwent a gastric sleeve surgery and lost another 100 pounds successfully through good ol’ fashioned diet and exercise. She later had a tummy tuck to get rid of access skin from her weight loss.
I’ll never forget the feeling I felt when I took that picture on the left. Feeling lost, broken, and out of control in ALL areas of my life. I knew two things: I would have an amazing transformation and it would be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. What I didn’t know is what happiness like this could feel like. I didn’t know how it would feel to be free from the chains that bound me. I didn’t know the girl I would find along the way. The #1 question I get asked from you guys is how to get motivated. Tomorrow on our weightlosshero show at 3pm, we will come live to you to help you. It’s time to get motivated. It’s time to start. The time is now. Happy #transformationtuesday
The most important part of this story is perhaps not the weight loss, but along with shedding the weight, Christine was able to rid herself of her controlling and manipulative boyfriend as well, who was obviously holding her back, bringing unneeded negativity into her life and preventing her from being the best she could be for herself.
When embarking on a new journey-it’s easy to feel daunted, overwhelmed….terrified. I read a quote yesterday that I love…”you can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”. Courage isn’t something you wake up with. It’s found in the small improvements we make on a daily basis. It’s constant repetition of these improvements. It’s knowing that there is no ‘try’…you either do or do not. Today-whatever is stopping you or holding you back…reach deep down and find the courage to push past it-even if just a little. Choose to DO today. Go on, Christine! This is a great lesson to teach to others. If you want to better yourself to be happier and someone is holding you back, leave them in the dust and show them what you can do with or without them.
