So often parents to the store with their child and think “I’ll just run inside and grab some things, this won’t take long”
What they don’t know is that their car is scorching hot inside and temperatures and rise so fast that it can cause your child to have a vehicular heatstroke.
Did you know that every 10 days a child dies from vehicular heatstroke? The main reason is because parents make a misjudgment or they totally forget! That’s right, some parents actually forget to check the backseat to see if their child is in the car.
The bes tthing you can do to prevent this is create a reminder to make sure you check the back seat:
– Put something you’ll need like your cell phone, handbag, employee ID or brief case, etc., in the back
seat so that you have to open the back door to retrieve that item every time you park.
– Keep a large stuffed animal in the child’s car seat. When the child is placed in the car seat, put the stuffed animal in the front passenger seat. It’s a visual reminder that the child is in the back seat.
