There’s nothing better than going on a vacation to a tropical island and lounging on the beach with a cold drink in hand…And cuddling with puppies! YES! YES! YES!
On Providenciales, part of Turks & Caicos, you can cuddle and play with rescued puppies all day freaking long. The rescue, Potcake Place, does their best to keep strays off the streets.
Since 2005, Potcake Place and it’s own Jane Parker-Rauw have been saving neglected puppies and has an average of 50-70 rescues. They oversee a total of 500 rescues across the globe!
The potcake dog is a mixed-breed dog type found on several Caribbean islands. Its name comes from the congealed rice and pea mixture that local residents traditionally fed dogs. It is a mix of Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd and English Fox Terriers.
Potcake Place takes in rescue dogs and tries to find them a loving home. When people visit the island, the rescue encourages visitors to pick a puppy and receive a kit filled with food and other supplies. If you fall in love (how could you not?) you can bring one home!
The shelter works with vets to get the dogs health certificates to travel. If you want to move forward with your newfound pup, they help book the pup on the plane, and meet the families at the airport.
If you love dogs as much as we do, please consider making a donation to Potcake Place.
