Tricia Seaman has worked as a nurse at Pinnacle Health Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for fourteen years. But no one has ever asked her this…
Tricia Somers was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. She is so grateful to have Seaman as her nurse that she refers to her as her “angel”.
“Before she even said anything, I just felt comfort. It was almost like someone just put a warm blanket on me,” said Somers. “I’ve never felt anything like that before or any other connection with anybody else.”
One day, Somers received terrible news: Her cancer was now terminal. Which meant that her 8-year-old son Wesley would continue to grow up without a Mom in his life. Until she ran into Seaman…
Somers asked, “Can you take my son? Will you raise him if I die?”
Although they barely knew each other, Somers just knew this was the right thing to do.
After consulting with her husband, she decided not only to adopt Wesley; But also bring Somers into her home so she could live with her for the last few days.
When asked why she did this, Seaman responded, “That’s what we’re supposed to do – more than we’re asked.”
