A waitress at a Red Robin in Ohio, Jessica Dunbar, showed a random act of kindness to nine officers dining at the establishment after a rough day of having to put one of their brothers in the ground.

Nine cops walked into the restaurant after the funeral of Columbus, Ohio SWAT Officer Steven Smith. Jessica, who’s father is a retired police officer, knew something was wrong. She asked them if they had a rough day and their response was, “It’s always a rough day when you’ve gotta put a brother in the ground.” Officer Smith had been shot during a stand-off and thousands of people attended his funeral that day.

Jessica wanted to do something to give back to the officers on this hard day, because every day they risk their lives to protect our safety. So, when the $123 bill came, Jessica paid for all of the officers’ meals out of her own pocket.

The officers were all very touched at the kindness showed to them by Jessica and her story is now going viral online.
