A server in Iowa was stiffed on a tip, all because of her bright pink hair, but she’s not going to let anyone bully her into changing her style.
Taelor Beeck is a server at Zombie Burger in Des Moines, Iowa, and is loved by many regular patrons of the establishment. But on Tuesday night, instead of a tip written in on the receipt was a note stating that “Tips are only for normal-looking people.”
Beeck told WHOtv, ““At first, I felt really upset, I felt attacked, I almost felt like I was back in middle school all over again, like being bullied.”
She also said, “I didn’t act on it because it’s not worth it when someone puts hate out there, you know to respond in a hateful way will do no good.”
The parent company of Zombie Burger, Orchestrate Hospitality, put out a statement in support of Beeck, “We believe that Zombie Burger is a place that celebrate individuality. We stand by our staff.”
It’s just awful that people are judged in so many ways based on their looks alone. Let’s remember that judging a person does not define who they are, it defines who you are.
