Injured Swan Gives The Man Who Rescued Her A Loving Hug

Richard Wiese, who hosts a show in the U.K. called “Born to Explore,” was visiting the Abbotsbury Swannery in England last year where he met an injured swan who nuzzled up into his neck to be comforted.

Swans are given a bad rap for being mean and vicious, but that is definitely not the case here. While Wiese was visiting the Abbotsbury Swannery to care for injured swans, this swan flew into a chain link fence and Wiese picked her up to transport her to get help.

He told ABC News, “When I put it next to me I could feel its heart beating and it just relaxed its neck and wrapped it around mine. It’s a wonderful moment when an animal totally trusts you.”

Although, it’s not really recommended by wildlife rehabilitators to hold a swan like this around your neck. They are sometimes vicious around humans and are very strong, as well as territorial birds. But, for Wiese, this was a beautiful encounter of trust from the swan.
