Nicole Bennett and her husband Deonta were about to welcome their second child into their family when Deonta died unexpectedly two months beforehand. So, Nicole decided to honor his memory in a special way in her maternity photos.
Nicole worked with photographer Sidney Conley to find a way to show in the photos that Deonta would always be a part of their life, even though he is not able to be with them in the physical sense anymore.
Deonta came up with the idea to take maternity photos with Nicole and their 4-year-old son Landen before her due date of March 25th, but unfortunately Deonta died unexpectedly in January.
Instead of cancelling the photoshoot, they decided to go ahead with it and the photographer was able to work some old photos of Deonta into the pictures in editing.
Nicole hopes that the photos will serve as a memory to her children of the man they lost. She told ABC News, “It brings me to tears, looking at the photos myself. I wanted to do something special because he’s been there for my son since day one. It’s memories for my son of his father and for my daughter who will never meet her father, it’s memories for her as well.”
The photos have been shared nearly 100,000 times on Conley’s Facebook page and Nicole thinks they’re a wonderful reminder of the man her husband was.
