The creativity of some people is so amazing. To just look at something that some would consider trash (or firewood) and to make it into a fully functional piece always blows my mind.

He stars off with the log which he collected from his dads wood pile. The first step was to cut it to the right length, then start stripping the bark which he did with a chisel.

Until he has all of the bark removed… talk about elbow grease!

With the chiseling complete, it was time to start crafting his piece. He bought a 100mm hole saw and began drilling. Now never having used a hole saw before he didn’t know what to expect….but he found it quite terrifying. Once he got more than about an inch deep there was so much friction that it kept catching and the drill felt like it was being ripped out of his hands. He decided it was not safe and carried on with a chisel. One can only imagine how long that must have taken, but just wait until you see his end result!

Now for a stain…

And finally the finished product! A beautiful wine rack fit for any mountain home. Heck I would buy it wouldn’t you?
