The absolute worst thing that could ever happen to a parent is to lose their child, but unfortunately it happens way more often than any of us would like it to. Lindsay Rhoades and her husband know this pain all too well.

In 2013, their daughter Kate was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Kate then underwent cancer treatment and completed it in 2015. After that, she seemed to be doing just fine. Sadly, a few months after that, her follow-up blood tests showed that she had relapsed and the very next day – Kate passed away.

While her mother was mourning in the hours following her death, she crawled into Kate’s bed and began to write a letter to say her goodbyes to her sweet, little girl. She has hopes of the letter reaching others to spread awareness about pediatric cancer, while comforting those already dealing with the same thing. Many people have since shared the story of the letter in a video on Facebook which is now going viral.

Lindsay wrote in the letter, “We always wanted to be your mommy and daddy, you know. We dreamed about who you would become, what music you would like and who your first crush would be… This nightmare of never knowing who you will grow up to be will haunt us for the rest of our lives — Forever 4, they say.”

Please watch and SHARE this mother’s heartfelt letter to continue to honor and remember Kate.
