A 3-year-old girl, Brooklyn Andracke, looks forward to seeing her neighborhood garbage man every day. So, she decided to give him one of her birthday cupcakes, because she’s his biggest fan.
The little girl’s mom, Traci, posted a note to the city of Bloomington, Illinois mentioning that her daughter looks forward to seeing the garbage man every single Thursday. She calls him her “favorite, awesome, smiley, garbage man.” The Facebook post about her story stole the hearts of thousands of people across the world.
The garbage man, Delvar Dopson, drove by one Thursday and the little girl was waiting outside and had wrapped up one of her birthday cupcakes to give to him as a gift.
Andracke said that Dopson was “instantly speechless.” She thanked Dopson for always waving and honking when Brooklyn is outside waiting to see him pass by and that it really brightens her days. He said he loves seeing her, too.
Andracke added, “He said that he has a meeting every Thursday morning and always tries to get out of there in a hurry so that he can make sure to see us every week. He said he doesn’t have any kids of his own, but he mentors several children and just loves them.”
Needless to say, he definitely made Brooklyn’s day. People all over the internet are eating up the story and praising Dopson for his kindness.
Even better.. in an updated post, Andracke said that Dopson came by the next week with a belated birthday gift for Brooklyn. It was a toy from the Frozen movie. Then, Brooklyn wrote him a thank you note that he now keeps in his truck.
It’s the little things…
