911 Operator Takes A Distress Call From His Girlfriend, Then Realizes He’s Never Heard His Voice

This has to be one of the most horrific stories we’ve ever come across! Back in December, 2015 a woman in Georgia was kidnapped, taken to a parking lot and brutally attacked. But this is where is gets even more bizarre and terrifying – her attacker forced her to call her boyfriend so that he could hear the assault taking place over the phone. Horrible.

Fortunately, the woman’s instincts kicked in and instead of calling her boyfriend, she secretly dialed 911 without her attacker knowing.

The operator, Deonte Smith, picked up the call and knew what the woman was trying to convey over the phone and started playing along as her “boyfriend.”

Deonte knew he had to play cool under pressure to save this woman’s life. He even got on the phone with attacker at one point trying to get him to delay his actions while dispatching police to the scene.

Many people praised Deonte as a hero, but he doesn’t think that at all. In fact, he pointed the attention to the woman for making a crucial split second decision to save her own life.

Being the only operator on the floor that night, she was luck enough to have gotten through to him.

The 27-year-old attacker was arrested by police. He now faces rape, false imprisonment and obstruction charges.
