Endometriosis is a disease that 1 in 10 woman suffer from, yet almost nobody has ever heard of it. The disease is extremely painful, debilitating disorder that affects nearly 200 million women and girls. It can also be a common cause of infertility.

You may have it. If you don’t, you almost certainly know someone who does – your mom, daughter, sister, best friend. An estimated 176 million girls & women around the world have it around the world.

The disease is described as “a condition resulting from the appearance of endometrial tissue outside the uterus and causing pelvic pain.” It’s a systemic disease that involves the immune & endocrine systems and, although no one knows the cause, research suggests that genetics, stem cells & environmental toxins are involved.

Patients are passed around to an average of 8 doctors for 10 years before being diagnosed. During that time, many are forced to abandon dreams of having children, to leave careers they love, to watch their personal relationships suffer & to live in unspeakable pain. Because of societal taboos & misinformation, many doctors and even those closest to the women tell them to toughen up, live with the pain, or it’s all in their heads.

A new Indiegogo film directed by Shannon Cohn, Endo What Film, is trying to change the narrative of this disease so that no more girls & women needlessly suffer. This film is truly groundbreaking. It’s the first in which the world’s top endo experts set forth the disease & discuss how we can fight it & win – both on personal & societal levels.
