With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I bet you need some cool gift ideas to give Mom this year. And, what do most moms love the most? Personalized gifts that you made with your own two hands. So, here’s a crafty and thoughtful idea for you from Brit+Co – an easy DIY photo candle that you can make in just five minutes!
What you need:
- Wax paper
- Tissue paper
- Heat gun or hairdryer
First, tape some tissue paper to a piece of cardstock or printer paper. Make sure you cover the whole piece of paper, and tape it down flat, or your printer will tear it up. Then, print out the picture you want to use onto your customized piece of paper or cardstock.
Once the photo has been printer, go ahead and cut out the picture. Separate the tissue paper from the printer paper and trim the edges of the image.
Place your image on the candle and wrap it in parchment or wax paper. Melt the tissue image onto the candle using a heat gun or hairdryer. Note: Photos with light backgrounds will work best transferring onto white candles.
Feel free to add something special to your picture candle, like a sweet message. Just write it onto the tissue paper and melt it onto the candle in the same way that you did with the photo.
You could even cut out shapes of your choice, like hearts, in the tissue paper and melt them onto the candles as well.
This is a heartfelt gift that all mothers will LOVE! Get creative and have fun making this perfect Mother’s Day gift for your own mom.
