A terminally-ill young comedian, Quincy Jones, appeared on Ellen on March 15 because his Kickstarter campaign caught DeGeneres’ attention.

Jones started the fundraising page to fulfill his dream of creating a stand-up special, after he was diagnosed with Stage 4 mesothelioma and given a year to live. During Jones’ appearance on her show, DeGeneres pleaded with HBO or Netflix to air the special and make his dream come true.

HBO was listening, and agreed to air Jones’ special after it’s taped on April 4 at the Terragram Ballroom in Los Angeles.
