Every year as a young child, I looked forward to my birthday. The reason why? All the presents! But I think we can all learn from this young man’s generosity…

Meet Ethan. A 9 years old boy that hasn’t received a birthday present in 4 years! Do his parents hate him? Are they poor? NOPE. He donates everything he receives on his birthday.

His mother, Jennifer Flint says: “Every other 5-year-old’s reaction might be ‘what do you mean I don’t get a party?’ A lot of talk over the years has been it’s better to give and have other people benefit from the generosity you have in your family.”

Every year he picks a different cause to donate to. This year? Ethan wants to donate $1,200 so that K9 dogs in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota, can have bulletproof vests.

Ethan says: “Some dogs have vests and some dogs didn’t and I didn’t think that was fair.”
