We’ve all heard the phrasing “counting calories” but have you ever stopped to think about actual portion size? Take a look at ten examples below of very common foods we consume on an everyday basis to give you a pretty good idea. Some might even surprise you!


1 Bacon

I’m a huge bacon lover, but just a few pieces alone add up quick!


2 Cheetos

Could make a nice snack, Just try not to buy the big bags, before you know it they’re all gone!


3 Green Peas

Not my favorite, but you do get a healthy portion for the calories.


4 Fruit Loops

Cereal is a great way to start the day and with just one bowl you won’t be over eating.


5 Hershey Kisses

Apologies to any chocolate lovers out there. Eat these delicious treats in moderation!


6 (Almost) One Doughnut

Again, we run into a problem with sweets. You don’t get much if you want to maintain a low calorie diet.


7 Celery

This actually looks like it could fill you up!


8 Baby Carrots

Another healthy serving would make a great snack


9 Chopped Almonds

A great addition to many recipes. I personally like to use them in salads 🙂


10 Broccoli

It’s no wonder they say vegetables are good for you. You can ingest such a higher volume at a lower caloric count. Eat your veggies!
