For over two years, the nonprofit “Together We Rise” has been sharing adorable photos of foster kids on the day they were adopted into their “forever families.”
The pictures are posted on the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages to reveal how much time they spent in foster care before their adoptions.
Together We Rise helps to improve the lives of foster children in the U.S. by providing them with school supplies, bicycles, educational programs and even college scholarships.
“With so much negative news surrounding foster care we just want highlight the positive with amazing adoptions that are happening every day,” TWR Executive Director, Gianna Dahlia, told The Huffington Post.
“There are many negative stereotypes surrounding kids in foster care, but they are just children who want loving families — and there are families out there fighting for them,” she added.
“We just want to inspire those families either going the process or considering the adoption process that it can be done and it is worth it.”
"We got a call one Friday afternoon begging us to take a newborn in "just until Monday." Over 30 agencies in Los Angeles County had been contacted. No open beds. We were reluctant as we had 3 and 4 year old adopted daughters and a newly placed 5 year old foster son. But we said yes. Needless to say 3 days turned into forever and we couldn't be more blessed or excited that our son is forever ours. Once you are exposed to the world of foster care and adoption, your life is forever changed. We are blessed." #fosterlove #fostercare #togetherwerise #adopted
In 2011, we provided this young man with a bicycle on our tour across the country. Susannah Steele was one of the volunteers that was at the the event that day. Little did they know that one day they would meet again and both of their lives would be changed forever. Today, Susannah and Ben Steele, officially adopted him and their last name could not be any more perfect. Thanks BigHouse Foundation for everything you do for children in foster care <3 #fosterlove #familyofsteele #fostercare (WHY SUPERMAN? SUPERMAN WAS ADOPTED)
