A Danish woman and aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven, found a 2-year-old boy in Nigeria who was left behind to die because his parents believed that he was a witch. He was suffering from severe malnutrition and worms and had been wandering around alone on the streets for 8 long months.

In a post on the organization’s Facebook page Loven says, “Thousands of children are being accused of being witches and we’ve both seen torture of children, dead children and frightened children.”

When Loven found the boy on January 31st, she named him Hope, and he has since been receiving medical attention thanks to her.

It is truly heartbreaking to see just how sick the boy was when Loven found him – in need of many things, but most importantly food and water.

Hope began receiving medical attention and started to show signs of improvement.

Today, he is stable and is even sitting up and smiling.

Showing that a little help and humanity goes a long way..
